[ARCHIVED] Police respond to vehicle burglaries, shots fired in the 16900 block of Leclaire Avenue

Police respond to Leclaire Avenue

On Friday, June 7, at 1:54 a.m., Oak Forest Police responded to the 16900 block of Leclaire Avenue for a report of a burglary to a vehicle.  A resident observed several unknown subjects near his property and neighboring properties while Oak Forest Police were responding to the area. These unknown subjects fled the area, and the resident gave chase.

While chasing the unknown subjects, an exchange of gunfire occurred between the resident and subjects.  The resident was struck twice by the gunfire and it is unknown if any of the fleeing subjects were struck by gunfire.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he is in stable condition.  Oak Forest Police also learned that two dark-colored vehicles were seen leaving the area after the reports of the shots fired.  

The Oak Forest Police want to ensure everyone that there is no continued threat to the community from this event.
