[ARCHIVED] Kristin resigns as city administrator

Kristin resignation thank you

Last week, Mayor Hank Kuspa accepted the resignation of Tim Kristin, who has served as city administrator for four years.

As city administrator, Kristin has been instrumental in shepherding several economic development projects, including One Fifty-Seven Oak Forest, Culver’s Restaurant, Aldi Food Market, and Captain Jack’s Beverages.  In addition, Kristin has spurred the demolition of several vacant properties to prepare for sale, including Ace Hardware, Numero Uno, and Citgo. Most recently, Kristin announced the city would no longer charge daily fees at its commuter parking lots – another strategy to support economic development opportunities.

Kristin also implemented an automated Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) system, crafted policies and procedures to provide a roadmap for day-to-day operations, and successfully negotiated several union contracts and insurance premiums.

In order to facilitate a smooth transition and ensure continuity of services to residents and staff, Kristin will remain as city administrator until the position is filled or May 1, 2025, whichever comes first.

Kristin expressed his appreciation to Mayor Kuspa and the City Council for giving him the opportunity to serve his hometown.  “It has been an honor to serve you and the people of Oak Forest,” he said in his resignation letter. “I am forever grateful to our employees, who work hard every day to offer the best possible service to our residents, local business owners, and visitors.”
