On Saturday, May 31, the Illinois Department of Corrections and the U.S. Marshals Service’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force took 32-year-old Rashee Wyrick of Chicago into custody in connection with the May 23 homicide of 54-year-old Edward Lewis of Elburn in a home in the 15500 block of Long Avenue. Wyrick has been charged along with 30-year-old Michael Protho of Chicago with one count of first-degree murder.
Wyrick’s court date has been set for Tuesday, June 3 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
Members of the public are reminded that this arrest and complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
