Dear Oak Forest resident,
Property tax appeal forms are available at City Hall. If you do not have your property index number, do not worry; I can retrieve the necessary information using your home address. Please make every effort to complete the form with legible handwriting.
To facilitate the process, kindly provide your contact number, email address, and a signature. Please note that the submission of an appeal to the Cook County Assessor's Office cannot occur without your signature. If you purchased your home after 2022, please contact me directly as additional documentation is required.
Should your appeal succeed, any reductions to the assessment level will be reflected in your 2026 property tax second installment. If the outcome of your appeal is unfavorable, you will have a second opportunity to appeal to the Cook County Board of Review at a later date.
I want to assure you that all appeals will be submitted to the Cook County Assessor’s Office regardless of whether comparables can be obtained. You will receive a copy of all information submitted via mail from my office.
