Oak Forest Fire Department (OFFD) update: COVID-19

OFFD logo 2018

The Oak Forest Fire Department (OFFD) will continue to provide the services you expect for your medical or fire emergency around the clock 24/7. However, with the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, OFFD will be approaching our critical work a little differently.

The OFFD will respond to all 911 request; however, our dispatch procedures have been modified. In the event you have requested an ambulance, the dispatcher may ask you some additional questions about signs or symptoms and risk factors for COVID-19. This query process will never supersede the provision of pre-arrival instructions to the caller when immediate lifesaving interventions (e.g., CPR or the Heimlich maneuver) are indicated. The information provided to the dispatcher will be relayed for everyone’s protection to the responding OFFD crews via a CAD computer we have in each of our response vehicles. These additional questions are in accordance with the most recent The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines for 911 centers.

Additionally, both fire stations are currently closed to the public and limited to the on-duty fire department personal only. If you need non-emergency assistance, please call 708-687-6050.
