[ARCHIVED] Dispose of unused, expired medications at police station

Prescription Drug Take Back Receptacle

Every day our drinking water is being contaminated with prescription drugs being dumped down drains, toilets or in garbage.  Dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired medications safely by dropping them in the receptacle in the police department lobby. The Cook County Sheriff's Office will dispose of them in a safe and environmentally-friendly way.  This program is is made possible, in part, by funding provided by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.

Please note:

  • No liquid pharmaceutical drugs
  • No  loose pharmaceuticals
  • No food or other waste
  • No loitering around the receptacle
