A winter storm is expected to hit our area on February 12. The Public Works Department is pre-treating arterial and collector streets and preparing plow trucks for the storm.
Things to keep in mind:
- No parking is allowed on city streets for 12 hours after 2 inches of snow has fallen. Please remove your vehicle to allow Public Works crews to effectively clear streets of snow. Violators will be ticketed or towed.
- Be patient as plow operators make their way through town in this order: main streets, side streets and courts. If a plow driver passes a street without stopping, it’s because that street is not on his route.
- Do not push snow from your driveway into the street. It’s best to pile snow in your yard past the driveway in the direction of travel. See graphic below.
- Please clear the fire hydrant near your home in case of an emergency.
- Consider helping neighbors who are unable to shovel snow from public sidewalks, their walkways and driveways, and check on them after the storm to make sure they are okay.
- Remind children who are playing outside in the snow to watch out for plows and other emergency vehicles.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Stay safe and warm!
