On Tuesday, July 15 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Oak Forest Police Department responded to a report of graffiti near the Metra train station at 159th Street and Cicero Avenue.
Later that evening, at approximately 6:30 p.m., police officers responded to the 5000 block of 159th Street for a second report regarding a subject, who was actively spray painting the walls beneath the Metra viaduct. Responding officers quickly located and detained the suspect, who was positively identified on scene by the witness.
The suspect, 21-year-old Joseph Rodriguez of Oak Forest, was taken into custody. A subsequent search of Rodriquez led to the recovery of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Rodriguez was transported to the Oak Forest Police Department for further processing.
Rodriquez has been charged with the following offenses:
- One felony count of delivery of cannabis, over 30 grams
- Criminal defacement of property
Rodriguez was cited and released in accordance with the Illinois Pretrial Fairness Act. He has been ordered to appear at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Wednesday, July 16 at 9 a.m.
