Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations for the Forest in Bloom beautification awards.  The judges are busy walking or driving through the neighborhoods to choose their favorites.  Winners will be announced in August. 

I Am An American Day

I Am An American Day Parade

The Oak Forest Veterans Commission will once again host the I Am An American Day Parade on Sunday, September 5th at 11:00 am on Central Avenue.

Local schools, churches, businesses, and community groups are invited to show their pride in being Americans by taking part in the parade.  Houses along Central are encouraged to decorate their houses and fences.

Registration forms will be available soon, but start planning now to decorate bikes, wagons, scooters, etc. and join us for this family event.

Oak Forest Veterans Commission

The Oak Forest Veterans Commission promotes programs for veterans, raises awareness of veterans' welfare issues, represents the city at community events, participates in programs with other veterans' groups, and recognizes the accomplishments of local veterans.  In addition, the Veterans Commission serves as a repository of information about veterans' issues, such as securing benefits from the federal government.

Vehicle Registration Sticker

Deadline to Purchase and Display Vehicle Stickers is July 31, 2021!

The 2021-2022 Vehicle Stickers are currently on sale through July 31st.  The link to purchase is: Oak Forest Vehicle Sticker V-Pay.  Please reference the "VEHICLE ID" number on your pre-printed application when purchasing a vehicle sticker(s) online at www.oak-forest.org.  

Starting August 1, 2021, the cost of stickers will DOUBLE and vehicles registered in Oak Forest without stickers will be ticketed.

City Hall is open to the public, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  However, we encourage people to wear face coverings while interacting with city employees.

CITY HALL WILL BE OPEN SATURDAY, JULY 31ST

To accommodate residents needing to purchase Vehicle Stickers, City Hall will be open from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. 

Cook County Board of Review

Property Tax Appeal 

Pre-filing your property tax appeal is now available through the Cook County Board of Review web site at 
https://appeals.cookcountyboardofreview.com.

Pre-filing is the same process as filing your property tax appeal, except without having to wait for your township’s filing period to open. Homeowners (non-attorneys) in all Cook County townships can submit a property tax appeal before their township officially opens. Do not miss this opportunity — pre-filing will not be available once your respective township opens for normal filing. Register or log onto your

If you would like to pre-file your appeal in person, please visit the front desk on the 6th Floor of the County Building at 118 N. Clark St., Monday-Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

The City of Oak Forest is looking to fill the following positions:

Economic & Community Development Director

The Economic and Community Development Director plans, organizes, directs, and integrates the City's Building, Planning, Communications, and Economic and Community Development Divisions.  This is a highly responsible management position involving technical work.  The incumbent in this class is responsible for policy development, program planning, budget management, administration, and operational direction of the Economic and Community Development Department functions in addition to accomplishing department objectives and goals within guidelines established by the City Administrator.

Public Works Assistant Director

The Public Works Assistant Director is an administrative position that is under the direction of the Director of Public Works.  The primary focus is on construction engineering in both the Public Works and Building Departments.  Secondary duties include assisting in department operations and project development; provides supervises personnel performing design/inspection and surveying. 

Part Time Firefighter / Paramedics

The Oak Forest Fire Department is actively looking to hire Part Time Firefighter / Paramedics!  OFFD provides 24-hour fire protection, paramedic service, and emergency response to the residents and businesses of Oak Forest.

The department was founded in 1945 and has provided excellent public services through its existence. The Fire Department responds to approximately 3,700 calls/year out of two staffed stations and is an active member of MABAS 24 in mutual/auto aid responses.
