City appoints new leadership in fire department

The City of Oak Forest has named Jack Janozik (left) as its new fire chief and Patrick Duffy as its new deputy fire chief.   Both appointments were approved by the City Council at its meeting on March 22.

Yard waste season returns

It’s officially yard waste season! Grass clippings, leaves and branches should be placed in brown yard waste bags, 32-gallon cans with red "Yard Waste Only" stickers (free at City Hall), or a 95-gallon cart (available on request from NuWay Disposal).  Yard waste season also marks the return of Public Works' monthly branch pickup.  Branches will be picked up by Public Works staff by appointment only on the last Tuesday of every month through November.  Residents may also dispose of branches every week with their normal refuse pickup.  Nuway Disposal picks up bundled branches up to 3 1/2" in diameter, no more than four feet in length, and no heavier than 50 lbs. per bundle on your regular trash day.
