Chicago's True Nature

Forest Preserve documentary takes you beyond the picnic grove


The Forest Preserves of Cook County, in partnership with WYCC PBS Chicago and Juneteenth Productions, is proud to present “Chicago’s True Nature: The Forest Preserves of Cook County.”
 
The hour-long documentary captures the sights and sounds within the Forest Preserves as it marked its 100th anniversary throughout 2015. Audiences will see and learn about the benefits of nature, the impact of open land to our quality of life and what lies ahead in the next century for the one of the oldest and largest forest preserve systems in the nation.
Memorial Day

Commemorate Memorial Day on May 30


Join the City of Oak Forest and the Owen W. Winter, Jr. VFW Post 4241 at the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at City Hall at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 30.  After the ceremony, Boy Scout Troop 348 will provide hot dogs and refreshments sponsored by the Oak Forest Veterans Commission.  

City Hall is open tomorrow


City Hall will be open Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to noon. 

City Council meets next week


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, May 24 at 8 p.m. for its regular meeting in Council Chambers at City Hall.  Citizens are invited to attend the meetings and are welcome to participate at the designated time.

Bill the Band will be at the May senior luncheon


Oak Forest Senior Commission is presenting Bill the Band,  a returning musical entertainer, singing pop favorites.  He will be playing both the harmonica and the guitar. Bill has appeared in numerous suburban venues.  The event will take place at the Oak Forest Senior Center, 15500 S. Kilpatrick.  Doors open at 10:00 a.m. Entertainment starts at 11:00 a.m. Admission is $4 and includes lunch (Italian sausage, potatoes and cole slaw) served at noon and free cash bingo at 12:45 p.m.  Tickets are available at City Hall or at the door of the event.

Fieldcrest Neighborhood Watch meeting is June 2


REVISED DATE: Everyone is invited to attend the Fieldcrest Neighborhood Watch meeting on Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at the Don Gorman Fieldhouse.
