Enjoy a safe Fourth of July!


We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. Remember, fireworks are illegal. Please enjoy the professional fireworks show at Oak Fest on Monday at dusk.  

City Hall will be closed on tomorrow and Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Also, garbage pickup will be delayed one day next week.

Oak Fest is underway


Oak Fest celebrates its 29th season now through July 4 at 159th and Central Avenue. This five-day event is packed with free family fun. From concerts to crafts there’s something for everyone to enjoy. There’s also a carnival for kids of all ages (even the adult ones). Carnival mega passes will get you access to all rides during the entire festival and are $75 at the festival grounds. There are also daily ride pass specials throughout the week. Don’t forget to head to the craft fair or check out the new craft beer tent!

City of Oak Forest seeks HR manager 


The City of Oak Forest is seeking a full-time Human Resources manager to be an important member of its management team.  The HR manager will be responsible for developing, organizing, planning, and implementing the city's comprehensive human resources program.  

Taxpayer advocate office hours 


Beginning on Wednesday, Taxpayer Advocate Guy Gattone will hold office hours every Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall.  His office will be open until Bremen Township closes for appeals with the Cook County Board of Review.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
