David Neuman appointed city clerk


On July 12, Mayor Hank Kuspa and the City Council appointed Oak Forest resident David Neuman as city clerk – replacing Scott Burkhardt, who retired on July 1 after 19 years of service.  Neuman will serve as city clerk until the seat is up for election in April 2017.

Parade registration is open


Register your group, business or family for the I Am An American Day Parade on Sunday, September 4. Decorate your bikes, scooters, strollers, etc. and help us lead the parade!  Parade registration is free and must be submitted by August 26.  Parade staging takes place at Hille Middle School at 5800 W. 151st Street at 10 a.m. Parade units line up in the order they arrive.

This Saturday, staff from Ingalls Quick Care in Crestwood will be offering free health screenings at the Oak Forest Farmers Market at 156th and Cicero Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon.

Park district

The park district is hiring


The Oak Forest Park District is hiring instructors for its FunTime Preschool Program. Applicants must be motivating and enthusiastic. Early education experience preferred. This is a part-time, year-round position that includes summer camp.

Metra to add midday express service on Rock Island Line


Beginning Aug. 1, Metra will launch a trial program to enhance midday service on the Rock Island Line by adding express trains that will speed the trip between suburban stations and downtown Chicago by 15 to 20 minutes.

City Hall is open tomorrow


City Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Taxpayer advocate office hours 


Taxpayer Advocate Guy Gattone will be in his office next week on Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall.  His office will be open twice a week until Bremen Township closes for appeals with the Cook County Board of Review.
