Thanks to a $285,819 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Oak Forest Fire Department will be able to replace mission-critical gear that is more than 10 years old.

The Oak Forest Police Department is accepting applications for its Citizens Police Academy, a 12-week program designed to provide residents a working knowledge of law enforcement and police department operations.

Illinois implements new procedures for obtaining driver's licenses and state IDs


A significant change will soon take place at the Secretary of State's office. The change will improve upon the design and issuing process of Illinois' driver's licenses/ID cards.

Fire Up A Cure
Cheer on our firefighters as they compete in Fire Up A Cure to help kids be bigger than cancer tomorrow at Saint Xavier University from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Oak Forest firefighters are competing in honor of their team captain Austin Barnett, who was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma brain and spine cancer in 2010.

Parade registration is open


Register your group, business or family for the I Am An American Day Parade on Sunday, September 4. Decorate your bikes, scooters, strollers, etc. and help us lead the parade.  Parade registration is free and must be submitted by August 26.  Parade staging will take place at Hille MIddle School at 5800 W. 151st Street at 10 a.m. Parade units line up in the order they arrive.  

City Hall is open tomorrow


City Hall will be open Saturday, July 30  from 9 a.m. to noon. 

Taxpayer advocate office hours 


Taxpayer Advocate Guy Gattone will be in his office next week on Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall.  His office will be open twice a week until Bremen Township closes for appeals with the Cook County Board of Review.
