Traffic enforcement campaign starts Monday

This Labor Day, families and friends will be celebrating the end of the summer. Sadly, this festive time is also a dangerous time on our roads, as many alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers get behind the wheel after celebrating. For this reason, the Oak Forest Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation to stop drunk drivers and help save lives.

Lock It or Lose It!

Police remind drivers to Lock It or Lose It!

The Oak Forest Police Department reminds residents to “Lock It or Lose It!” in an effort to reduce vehicular burglaries. According to police, a vehicle with an unlocked door or an open window is an easy target as it takes less than 30 seconds for a thief to steal a phone, laptop, tablet, or wallet from a car.  Drivers should remove their valuables or at least keep them out of sight.

Trimming trees around power lines

De-energize your service before trimming trees near power lines

ComEd does not perform non-emergency tree trimming for the wire running directly to customers' meters (the service wire). If you plan to do any trimming on your own, or hire a contractor to trim, ComEd will either drop or de-energize your service wire, and will re-connect it once trimming is complete. Your home will be without power until your service line is re-connected. There is no charge for this service.  Please call 800-EDISON-1 and a ComEd representative will contact you as soon as possible to schedule the date and time of the service wire drop.

Commuter notice: Dan Ryan lane closure

Construction work as part of the CTA’s 95th Street Terminal Improvement Project will require the extended closure of the left northbound lane on the Dan Ryan near 95th Street beginning next month. The lane closure is required as CTA continues efforts to expand and greatly improve the 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line rail station and bus terminal.
