This St. Patrick's Day, plan before you party


As one of the country’s most popular holidays, St. Patrick’s Day has long celebrated the roots of millions of Americans with Irish ancestry. But all-too-often, the celebration can turn deadly because of impaired driving. This year, if you’ll be drinking alcohol, the Oak Forest Police Department has some advice for you: “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over!”

Oak Forest High School begins construction 


The construction project to enhance the facilities at Oak Forest High School is underway.  As a result, accessibility to the back of the high school will be restricted as it will become a staging area for the construction. This will impact the traffic flow in and out of the high school as well as parking availability.


Police announce tobacco compliance results 


The Oak Forest Police Department conducted the second round of the 2016-2017 “Kids Can’t Buy Them Here” tobacco compliance surveys at various retailers on February 25. The purpose of the program is to determine which businesses may be selling tobacco products to minors (persons under 18 years of age) within city limits.

Early voting begins March 20


Early voting for the April 4 municipal election begins March 20 at City Hall.  Residents will be voting for mayor, city clerk, treasurer, and alderman for Wards 2, 4 and 6. Residents can register to vote at City Hall Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents must register to vote 30 days prior to Election Day to be eligible to vote in an election.

Phil and Amy will delight you with the music of Andrew Lloyd Weber and more at the Senior Luncheon on Thursday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at the Community Center. Ticket are available at City Hall for only $4 each.

City Hall will be closed tomorrow


City Hall will be closed tomorrow.  During non-business hours, please use the night deposit mail slot at City Hall, pay parking or ordinance tickets online or sign up for online water bill payments.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
