City seeks artists for street art project


Alderman Diane Wolf and City Clerk Dave Neuman are looking for 12 artists, who are interested in transforming bicycles into works of art that will be displayed throughout the city’s commercial corridors. Eighteen artists have already signed up to be a part of this year’s municipal art project called “Bike Watcha Like.”

Deadline to appeal proposed assessed value is May 17


The deadline to appeal your proposed Tax Year 2017 assessed value is May 17. You can file an appeal online through the Cook County Assessor's website or by visiting the Markham office at 16501 S. Kedzie Avenue, Room 237. Although appeal forms are available at City Hall, all questions should be directed to Bremen Township Tax Department at 708-333-1591.

City Council meets next week


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. (Committee of the Whole) and 8 p.m. for its regular meeting.  Don't miss 10-year-old resident Skylynn Grayer sing the National Anthem at 8 p.m. Skylynn recently appeared on an episode of Little Big Shots on NBC.

City Hall will be closed tomorrow.  During non-business hours, please use the night deposit mail slot at City Hall, pay parking or ordinance tickets online or sign up for online water bill payments.

The Wiseguys to appear at May senior luncheon


The Wiseguys will blend music and laughter with a trip down memory lane at the May 25 senior lunch at 11 a.m. at the Community Center. There also will be a ceremony honoring veterans. Please bring donations for the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. Luncheon tickets are available at City Hall for only $4 each.
