Electronics recycling becomes a part of city’s waste management program


Residents can now dispose of their electronics for free at the curbside by scheduling a pickup with Homewood Disposal.  Electronics that are placed at the curbside without a scheduled appointment will not be removed.  Each address has a limit of two televisions or computer monitors a year.    

Bike Watcha Like

"Bike Whatcha Like" hits Cicero Avenue


Local artists have transformed more than 20 bikes into works of art through the Street Art Committee's "Bike Whatcha Like" exhibit on Cicero Avenue. Use the Google map to find these clever and creative art pieces in the parkway.  And, be sure to snap a selfie with your favorite bike and tag the city on social media!  The bikes will be on display through October 2017.

Forest in Bloom Award winners announced


Congratulations to the 2017 Forest in Bloom Award winners.  The awards are presented annually to Oak Forest residents, businesses and organizations who take the extra steps necessary to beautify their homes and properties through exceptional landscaping. Award winners will receive their award signs in August.  

City seeking code enforcement officer 


The City of Oak Forest is hiring for the position of code enforcement officer.  Interested candidates should submit an online application and resume. Offers of employment are subject to successful completion of background check, drug screen and physical.

City Hall will be closed tomorrow


City Hall will be closed tomorrow.  During non-business hours, please use the night deposit mail slot at City Hall, pay parking or ordinance tickets online or sign up for online water bill payments.


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. for a Committee of the Whole meeting and at 8 p.m. for its regular meeting.  Citizens are invited to attend the meeting and are welcome to participate at the designated time.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
