Early voting continues through April 4


Early voting for the April 7 municipal election begins Monday, March 23 at City Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will continue through April 4.

City Hall is a drop-off location for The Marley Project spring food drive


Please consider donating non-perishable food items to The Marley Project's spring food drive.  There are several drop-off locations in town, including City Hall.

Registration is open for the Citywide Garage Sale on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16. Complete the registration form or email your name and address to cityofoakforest@oak-forest.org by May 11.

Civil Service Commission seeks qualified candidates for telecommuniator


The Civil Service Commission of the City of Oak Forest is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of emergency telecommunicator.  

Two handicap Metra parking spaces available


There are two handicap parking spaces currently available at the Metra train station. Handicap parking is $75 per quarter. To qualify for a spot, you must have a handicap parking placard. For more information, please call 708-687-4050.

Register early for the Gingerwood Pool and save


The Gingerwood Pool is tentatively scheduled to open on June 6!  Take advantage of early registration and save on membership fees on April 25 and April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Also, Savers will be at early registration to accept donations of clothing and household items.  Proceeds will benefit the Gingerwood Pool and the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.  

Rotary offering $1,000 scholarship award to local high school seniors 

The Rotary Club of Oak Forest is accepting scholarship applications to recognize outstanding graduating seniors with a $1,000 scholarship award, based on social and civic involvement in the community. The awards cater to the intelligent, well-rounded student enrolled in a college, trade or technical school for post-secondary education. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications before the April 11 deadline. 

Clean Up Week is April 20 to April 24


Save the date for Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 18 and Clean Up Week, April 20 to April 24.  Additional details will be available soon in e-Briefs, on the city's website and on social media.  

Need a bigger recycling cart?


The Citizens Advisory Commission wants you to know that you can request a 95-gallon recycling cart from NuWay Disposal.  The free cart is available by calling NuWay's residential account department at 708-532-8787.

Acorn Public Library provides books and eBooks, programming, movies, music, electronic research tools, and computer access to the public. Stop in to borrow a book or take part in one or all of the planned special events in April.
