If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.

City Hall will be closed on Saturday February 3, 2018 

The next City Council meeting will be held at Oak Forest City Hall: 15440 S. Central Avenue on February 13, 2018 at 8 pm.

Road Closed
Local Road Closure Coming!

IDOT Announces Pending Local Road Closure on 159th Street.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has notified the City of Oak Forest that 159th Street from Oak Avenue to Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest will be completely closed in both directions for at least 60 days starting April 2nd.  IDOT will close the road to remove and replace a large culvert under the road along with intersection improvements. These improvements will include new double turning lanes on east bound 159th to northbound Cicero Avenue, a new turn lane southbound Cicero Avenue to westbound 159th Street and a turn lane on east-bound 159th to southbound Cicero. Once 159th Street is closed the traffic, the IDOT traffic detour will be Cicero Avenue to 167th Street, west to Harlem Avenue, then north to 159th Street.         
 
The culverts will be replaced under both 159th Street and Cicero Avenue in the following stages. 

     Mid-February
                            
Start installing temporary traffic signals and utility relocations. This 
                             requires only day-time closures.

     April 2nd        Completed closure of 159th Street from Oak Avenue to Cicero
                             Avenue in both directions. This closure is set for 60 days.

                             The detour route set by the IDOT will be Cicero Avenue to 167th Street
                             west to Harlem Avenue then north to 159th Street.

     June               159th Street will be reopened.

                             Cicero Avenue will be reduced to two lanes from 161st Street to 157th 
                             Street.

     November 15
                             Completion of the project.

The Oak Forest Senior Commission

The Oak Forest Senior Commission is looking for senior citizens who might like to serve as members of this commission, which meets in City Hall on every second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM.  The Senior Commission gets involved in various community events, such as the annual Health Fair at the Oak Forest Park District and monthly senior lunches at the Oak Forest Community Center.  Should you wish to join this commission, please contact the Mayor’s Office at 708-687-4050, extension 1005.
