Mayor Kuspa to recommend Larry Schoenfeld as 4th Ward alderman

On August 25, Mayor Hank Kuspa will recommend that the City Council appoint long-time Oak Forest resident Larry Schoenfeld as 4th Ward alderman.  If appointed, Schoenfeld will serve as 4th Ward alderman until the seat is up for election in April 2017.

Labor Day traffic enforcement campaign begins August 24


As summer winds down, the Oak Forest Police Department is ramping up its traffic enforcement efforts as part of the national crackdown on drunk driving and seat belt usage. The high-visibility campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click it or Ticket, is a partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to curb drunk and drugged driving and save lives. 

American Day Parade

I Am An American Day Parade registration forms are due Tuesday


The Oak Forest Veterans Commission will host the 4th Annual I Am An American Day Parade on Sunday, September 6 at 11 a.m. on Central Avenue between 151st Street and 156th Street.  The patriotic parade will lead to the Oak Forest Park District’s Old Times Picnic – a fun-filled event for all ages that has become an Oak Forest tradition.  Register now!

Commissioner Patlak hosts tax appeal seminar on Wednesday


Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will host a property tax appeal seminar at City Hall on Wednesday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m.

Last week, the Oak Forest-Crestwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for one of its newest members, CubeSmart, a self-storage solution for residential and commercial customers.  CubeSmart is located at 4325 Frontage Road (adjacent to the Best Western) in the city's Industrial Park.  

Learn what’s going on at upcoming council meetings 


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, August 25 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall for a Committee of the Whole meeting.  The City Council also will meet at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers for its regularly scheduled meeting.  Citizens are invited to attend both meetings and are welcome to participate at the designated times.
