Places You Can Enjoy With Your Dog 


Spring and Summer months are upon us! We love to take in the fresh air, sunshine and look at the beautiful foliage and flowers it offers. Your dog loves to be outdoors just as much as you do. Here are a few places you and your pooch can have fun together. 
  • Forest Preserves of Cook County Bremen Grove Off-Leash dog area located on Oak Park ave south of 159th St. has 3 acres of land for play. Separate areas for large and small dogs, a water fountain and connected trails for on-leash walking. Visit the website for more information.
  • Spend a day at the beach with your dog at Belmont Harbor Beach. US 41 & Belmont ave, Chicago, IL 60657. A small fenced beach for dogs of all sizes. Visit the website for more information.
  • Walking trails at Swallow Cliff. Located in the Forest Preserves of Cook County off of LaGrange Rd in Palos Park. Trails are unpaved. Visit the website for more information.
  • PetSmart stores. You can bring your best friend along to choose a toy or treat of their liking. Once a month they have free samples for your pet. In April get a free photo with your pet and family. Visit the website for more information.

The Consolidated Election is on April 2, 2019. During this election, you can vote for candidates running for local elected positions such as aldermen, commissioners, trustees and board members.

Oak Forest City Hall (15440 S. Cicero Avenue) is a designated Early Voting location as well as an Election Day Polling location on April 2, 2019. Early Voting runs from Monday, March 18 through Monday, April 1. Early Voting dates and times are:

Sunday, March 24
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Congresswoman Kelly to Host 6th Annual Youth Job Expo April 13


Congresswoman Robin Kelly will host a Youth Job Expo for young men and women between the ages of 16 and 23 on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, in the Media Center of Rich South High School, 5000 Sauk Trail, Richton Park. 

More than 50 employers will be accepting applications for active job openings, summer internships and apprenticeships. Representatives from various agencies and youth services will also be on hand to talk with young people about program offerings that will help them succeed. Business attire is highly recommended. Bring resumes with you, as some employers may conduct interviews on-site. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Parking is available outside the school’s auditorium, just off Sauk Trail on the north end of the West Lot.

Prior to the Expo, Rep. Kelly is sponsoring a Job Readiness Workshop to help young people enhance their interview skills, build their resumes, and more. The workshop takes place Thursday, April 3, at 4 p.m., at Rich South High School. For questions about the Job Readiness Workshop, contact Ms. Hope Stovall at (708) 710-2643.

Join the Oak Forest Senior Commission!


The Oak Forest Senior Commission is looking for senior citizens who might like to serve as members of this commission, which meets in City Hall on every second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM. 

The Senior Commission gets involved in various community events, such as the annual Health Fair at the Oak Forest Park District and monthly senior lunches at the Oak Forest Community Center.

Join us Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Senior Center (Oak Forest Community Center) 15501 S. Kilpatrick Avenue. Doors open at 10 AM. Entertainment begins at 11 AM. Lunch is at 12 noon. After lunch, stay for free cash bingo at 12:45 PM.
