The Oak Forest Veterans Memorial plays hosts to numerous activities honoring those who fought, and died for our country. In 2019, former Oak Forest Veterans Commission Member Craig Miller led a ceremony to honor PFC Sylvester J. Friess.
Joined by current members of the Commission and the Mayor of Oak Forest, Miller took some of the soil at the Veterans Memorial to bring to Friess' grave at the Punchbowl Crater in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In May, the city held its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Memorial. This production showcases just two of the events that take place at the Oak Forest Veterans Memorial.
