Jim Emmett was elected 5th Ward alderman in April 2015. Prior to winning a seat on the City Council, Jim served as a police officer for 36 years, serving 25 of those years with the Oak Forest Police Department. He currently serves as president of the Oak Forest Park District Board of Commissioners.
As alderman, Jim's promise to residents is to be their voice and work hard to achieve the present and future goals of the City of Oak Forest and its residents, especially those who reside in the 5th Ward. In particular, he plans to work closely with city staff and elected officials to find ways to increase the city's tax base by attracting new and larger commercial businesses to town. In addition, he wants to improve the city's aging infrastructure and increase the number of streets that are repaved each year by finding more grant money.
Jim and his wife have lived in Oak Forest for the past 33 years and have raised five children here. Jim is proud to say that his children still live in town and are raising their kids in this community.
