Joe McCarthy was appointed as 2nd Ward alderman on May 24, 2022 to fill the seat of the late Rich Simon. McCarthy will serve as alderman until the seat is up for election in April 2025.
A union pipefitter by trade, McCarthy is a superintendent/project manager for Dual Temp Companies, which provides industrial refrigeration, hygienic climate control, and energy saving solutions to its customers. In this role, McCarthy directs job-site activities at residential and commercial projects, maintains project compliance, manages employees and subcontractors in various trades, and tracks material usage, schedules, and budgets.
A graduate of Oak Forest High School, McCarthy and his wife Sheri live in his childhood home with their children Joe and Emma.
