Amenities of Oak Forest
OPEN SPACE = OPEN LIVING.  One thing that is most certainly evident when looking at an aerial view of Oak Forest is the amazing amount of green space that surrounds the city ....640 or so acres to be approximate.  And the best part about this green space is that it's all connected.  Through these trails, the Cook County Forest Preserve provides over 20+ miles of looped recreational trails (trail map) that allow you to bike or hike and enjoy an abundance of nature.  And the city has kicked off its bike plan in the past year purchasing and mounting new bike route signs throughout the city neighborhoods with the intent to provide its residents and visitors the safest routes through the city and to these trail heads.  The Oak Forest Park District also provides numerous parks throughout the city and many different programs.

LOCATION.  While you enjoy the open space you are also living in a city that accesses two I-57 interchanges that connects you to I-80 and (soon to be) I-294 within just a few minutes or can take you downtown via I-94 in 30 minutes---depending on rush hour, the amounts of snow, wind, rain, and whatever else the Chicagoland area can provide at a moment's notice.  But please take a look at the Google Maps link and see this great location.

TRANSIT.  If the traffic is too much to bear, Oak Forest provides another commuting alternative with the newly constructed, state-of-the-art Metra train station that can connect you to LaSalle Street station in less than 30 minutes.
