The City of Oak Forest is pleased to announce that Gold's Gym, the largest full service gym chain in the world with more than 700 locations in 43 states and 28 countries, will open as part of the Gateway Project at the northwest corner of Cicero Avenue and 159th Street. Construction of the outlot building, which will house the gym and a restaurant, is expected to begin this year.
"Gold's Gym has a long tradition of helping all types of people achieve their fitness goals," said Community Development Director Adam Dotson. "The gym is an excellent addition to the community-oriented development we are creating in the Gateway."
Specifically, Gold's Gym will offer Oak Forest residents cutting-edge health and fitness programs, including personal training and customized conditioning programs and a wide array of heart-pumping group exercise classes. At the corporate level, the gym serves as the national sponsor of the American Diabetes Association's Tour?de Cure and partners with AARP to keep senior citizens healthy and active at all ages.
Although the downturn in the economy has slowed plans for the Gateway Development, Dotson believes the addition of Gold's Gym will help attract a family-oriented restaurant and spur interest in the yet-to-be-constructed condominium buildings.
"Once the outlot building is up and running, we'll be able to focus on building the condos and attracting potential buyers,"?Dotson explained. ?"Things are slowly but surely falling into place at the Gateway?Development."
